Thanks for checking out our Peek of the Week!

Hi, I'm Carrie! I'm the CEO of Best of DFW.

The Peek of the Week is our opportunity to highlight outstanding businesses and activies throughout the local community. Every week, our Best of DFW team and I will select a new local business to visit, experience it first-hand and feature them across the entire DFW Network.

This is huge exposure because our network consists of hundreds of interconnected websites. Our website visitors come from all walks of life with all sorts of interest. Most importantly though, most of them are right here in the DFW area.

Being chosen as the Peek of the Week feature doesn’t cost anything and is a fun and exciting way to gain new customers.

If you would like to make a suggestion for the Peek of the Week or to have your business considered, please contact us. The only qualification is that you're within the DFW area. I look forward to visiting!

Here's a short list of our past PEEKS:

The Libertine Bar- Lower Greenville - September 15, 2008

Stopped by The Libertine to take advantage of Free Pint Glass Night and had the best Cuban sammy this side of Havana, fought over an enormous bowl of Mac & Cheese, and clinked our new Spaten pint glasses. The staff is attentive, the booths and bar cozy and the beer menu is amazing. Half-priced food on Sundays and brunch on the weekends means we'll be back!

The Ginger Man is a great little bar, tucked away in the heart of Uptown! With over 75 beers on tap from around the world, you will never go thirsty. The Ginger Man also has a patio, darts, and a great jukebox. Stop by for the 17th Annual Oktoberfest Party in their parking lot on Saturday, Sept. 20th at 3pm. Live music, beer tastings, food, and more!

Al Biernat's- Tuesday, September 02, 2008

Al Biernat's is a busy, happening place, and a group of us dined there on Saturday night. We were impressed with all they had to offer .... our waiter was engaging and entertaining, and the food was excellent. The sea bass was very good, and the steaks and roast beef were all cooked to perfection! The atmosphere was fun, from the funky décor at the bar to the cozy restaurant seating. Bobby Carpenter was sitting at the table next to ours- Go Cowboys! Al Biernat’s is a great choice for a romantic dinner for two, or for a large group. Next time, we’ll check out their Sunday brunch!

Spa Esoteric- Monday, August 25, 2008

Saturday morning I headed to McKinney Square for a treat at Spa Esoteric. This is truly a one of a kind spa. Spa Esoteric has been completely remodeled and is gorgeous, with hardwood floors, lavender walls, and a chandelier. I had the massage and custom facial treatment, and they were both amazing. I have never in my life been so relaxed and well pampered. On September 13th, from 2pm-10pm head over to their Open House, where there will be chair massages, paraffin hand treatments, and you will get 10% off any service! Spa Esoteric is a gem in the heart of McKinney. Go treat yourself!

Hibiscus - Monday, August 18, 2008

Although we couldn't try all 75 restaurants that participated in Restaurant Week, one superstar stood out among the rest. At Hibiscus, the service is phenomenal, and the dining room is cozy and dimly lit with tables and oversized booths. Their summer martinis, like watermelon or cucumber are a refreshing twist on the classic. And ... the food? Anything you order will be divine. You must try the crab dip as an appetizer, the "mac" of all macaroni and cheese side, and try to save room for the biggest piece of chocolate, chocolate, chocolate, cake I have ever seen. Hibiscus gets 5 superstars across the board, and I will be going back for seconds!

Cadillac Pizza Pub - Monday, August 04, 2008

It was a full house at the Cadillac Pizza Pub on Saturday night. CPP is a bar & pizza joint in the heart of downtown McKinney and you must try their pizza and nachos! This place has a night for everyone…karaoke, Texas hold ’em, jam night, and lots of live music. If you’re looking to have a good time, you should pick any night of the week, and head to McKinney for a little pizza, beer and rock and roll at the Cadillac Pizza Pub.
Mattito’s Tex-Mex Cocina - Monday, July 28, 2008

After watching FC Dallas beat The Galaxy 4 to zip on a HOT, 104 degree Sunday night, I wanted an ice cold margarita, so we headed over to check out Mattito’s. Mattito’s is a festive and happening place with two great locations- The new Mattito’s is located in Frisco, next to Lochrann’s Pub, and the original location is in Uptown on Routh Street. If you haven’t tried it yet, go and be ready for excellent food, potent margaritas, and a fun atmosphere for any occasion.

Medina Oven & Bar - Monday, July 21, 2008

Several outstanding ingredients give Medina a recipe for success. The adventurous blend of spices and presentation make this place a dining and drinking winner. The unique tea cocktails are amazing. Sam, the owner, will probably be the first and last person you see as you come and go. He's got real passion and you'll fall in love with the place right away. Give it a try...Medina's will exceed your expectations. If your just looking to eat, go somewhere else. Medina's offers visitors a culinary experience.
